What The Fk Is Farm To Table Fashion ™

We don’t know exactly what it means but it’s the easiest way to understand how we source and make our clothes (it's very similar to the farm to table movement).

One of the founding principles was to stay as local as possible and use what was around us. Today, 95% of our ingredients (materials) are sourced and made into clothing within a 15 mile radius (see map).

The closest thing we could liken it to is the farm to table food movement. In the fashion world, we have many new and emerging ways people and brands are creatively sourcing and making clothing responsibly, but there’s not a term yet that really defines the model we have built at DOUBLE ELEVEN, so we’re using one!

It is a very different way of going about the process and it eliminates vast amounts of transportation from the equation. Traditionally, fabrics are flown or shipped all around the world from mills to sample rooms to factories.

This uses vast amounts of resources, human & machine energy and emits tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

By removing this entirely, we have found we can still source the best ingredients from local suppliers, drive it down the road to our factory to be made into clothing, then drive it down another road to be finished, before sending it out to you. It’s about as local as you get.

The ingredients we source locally include; all the fabrics (including pocketing), all branded labels (except one), all shipping packaging, all size & care labels and the hang tags.

There are some ingredients that are simply not made here anymore, or made well, or are simply too costly to make (which ends up hurting your prices). So we had to look to foreign soils in order to make a few items. Sadly, this speaks to the bigger problem of industries moving their business off shore because of cheaper labor.

The ingredients we have to source outside the USA (which we bulk ship once a year to minimize transportation) are; one style of label, the paper pocket tag, our metal buttons & rivets, corozo buttons and the heat transfer.
